OBIT:

Ernest E. Barnhart, 81, native Ellensburg resident, died Saturday after a short illness. Born November 7, 1890 in Ellensburg, he married May Schnebly in 1912. He farmed in the Fairview District until his retirement a few years ago.

He was a charter member of the Kittitas County Cattlemen's Association, serving as one of its first directors. He was also a member of the Washington State Cattlemen's Association, the Fairview Farm Bureau and the Kittitas County Farm Bureau. In 1969 he was Kittitas County Cattleman of the Year.

Survivors include his wife, May; one son, Eugene of Ellensburg, four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Estella Schnebly of Kittitas, Mrs. Elizabeth Schnebly of Ellensburg, and Mrs. Ruth MacKenzie of Yakima.

Services are Wednesday, 2 p.m. Evenson Chapel, the Rev. Donald Meekhof officiating. Burial at IOOF Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to the Heart Fund.
