Additional information provided by Denise G (49200724): Jonas Stevens married in Sep 1852 to Mary M. Bennett, daughter of John and Annabel Bennett. They had 3 daughters: Mary A. Stevens (2 Jul 1854-15 Feb 1828), Elsie M. Stevens (b. 5 Oct 1856) and Carrie H. Stevens (b. 12 Dec 1860). Mary would remarry in November 1865 to David K. Cole. Additional information provided by MJ Eickhoff (47199898): Jonas George Stevens was born on 6 January 1819 in Chittenden County, Vermont. He died on 23 March 1863, during the Civil War. He was buried in March 1863 in Memphis National Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. He enlisted from the state of Illinois, 95th Regiment, Illinois Infantry. The Memphis Cemetery record has him as a Sergeant. Other records have him enlisting as a Corporal. In 1850, Jonas, wife Maria, and family are living in Bolton, Chittenden County, Vermont. Living with them is Jonas' mother Esther and his sister Tamerson (Tamsy). Jonas George STEVENS and Maria UNKNOWN were married. Maria UNKNOWN was born about 1820 in Vermont. Children: George STEVENS was born about 1844 in Vermont; Josephine STEVENS was born about 1846 in Vermont; and Joel STEVENS was born about 1848 in Vermont.
