Daughter of Roger and Esther (Snow) Stevens

Tamsey Stevens was born Oct 10, 1822. She is the daughter of Roger and Esther (Snow) Stevens. Her father died Jun 7, 1841 and is buried in Jericho, VT. After the father's death the sons started the trek westward. Artimus went to Ohio and Jonas and Joel settled in McHenry Co, IL. The mother joined the sons in Illinois. In May of 1855 she applied for Bounty Land at Chemung, IL in McHenry County. She was entitled to this land under the US Act of March 3rd, 1855 giving government land to Revolutionary War widows. She did not live to enjoy this land as she died five months later on Oct 28, 1855 and is buried in McHenry Co, IL. Joel (Jack) was a farmer and moved to Wisconsin. He married Sally; she was born in 1814 and died 1880. Joel died Aug 10, 1898 at the age of 88 at Ft. Atkinson, Jefferson Co, Wisconsin. Joel and Sally are buried in the Hebron Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson Co, Wisconsin.

*Tamsey followed her brother, Joel, to Wisconsin. Tamsey married Mr. Newkirk. Tamsey (Stevens) Newkirk died on Sep 10, 1896 and is buried in the Stevens Family Plot at Hebron Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson Co, WI
