FOLLOWS BROTHER IN DEATH IN LESS THAN A WEEK'S TIME

Victor Gantner, 74 years old, of 500 South High street, died at his home at 12 o'clock last night after an illness of about 25 hours. His death follows in less than one week after the demise of his brother Nicolaus, 70 years old, who was buried last Saturday and a little over three months after his wife, Mrs. Caroline Sattler Gantner passed away.

Victor Gantner was stricken ill at his home on Monday night. A physician was summoned yesterday morning. At 11 o'clock yesterday morning the patient lapsed into unconsciousness and remained so up to the time of his death.

He was born in Lorraine, France, January 4, 1850, and was married to Miss Caroline Sattler. She died May 2, this year.

He leaves the following children: Nick and henry Gantner, Belleville; Mrs. Thomas Pilkington, Herrin, Ill.; Mrs. John Considine, Troy, Ill.; Mrs. William Schlegel and Mrs. Joseph Herman, Belleville. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Dominick Gantner, of East St. Louis.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers and Harugari Lodge. he worked during his lifetime on the farm and in the mines of Illinois, Kentucky, Colorado and Mexico.

The time of the funeral has not been arranged.
