Joan E. Prehoda Jalbert, age 80 of Greenville, formerly of Smithboro and Keyesport, Illinois, passed away at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at her home in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 in the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home with Darryl Bolen officiating. Interment will follow in Noffsinger Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Thursday until service time at Donnell-Wiegand.

Joan Elizabeth Long, the daughter of William Long and Josephine Viola Lilly Long, was born on May 28, 1936 in Louden City, Illinois. Joan grew up near McKendree Chapel Cemetery moving to the Tamalco Farm in 1942. Joan attended the Duncan one room school, Keyesport school grade 7 and 8, and graduated from Carlyle High School in 1954. Joan met Michael John Prehoda Jr. as he recovered from the War and they were married on November 22, 1958, in Springfield and they enjoyed 17 years together. They lived in Chicago, Tamalco, Centralia and Carlyle. Joan moved to rural Keyesport after their divorce and raised her five girls there. Joan and Leo Jalbert were united in marriage on June 30, 1984 at the Wisetown Baptist Church and lived in Smithboro since 1984.
Leo preceded Joan in death on February 23, 1997.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Michael John Prehoda Jr. and Leo Jalbert, six brothers and sisters including Jessie Long, James Long, Hazel Connor, Effie Brazel, Virginia Long, and Madonna Shane-Richards.
