Services for Walter F. Eveland, 64, who died February 23rd near Hayti, were held Wednesday in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial was in East Woodlawn Cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 27, 1910 in Greenwell, Ill., the son of the late George and Mamie Eveland. He worked at the ice plant in Hayti for many years and also worked for the City Water Department and was a retired farmer.
On February 2, 1929, he married Annie Rettig in Osceola, Ark.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Hubert Eveland of St. Louis, Ed Eveland of South Haven, Mich., Joe Eveland of Hayti, and George and Ted Eveland, both of Kankakee, Ill.; six daughters, Mrs. Barbara Mullins of Meza, Ariz., Mrs. Doris Hall and Mrs. Joe Clark, both of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs Pat Reed of St. Louis, Mrs. Juanita Rayburn of Hayti, and Mrs Arittia Grissom of St. Joseph, La.; one brother, Porter Eveland of St. Louis; three sisters, Mrs. Arittia Coram of Pascola, Mrs. Josie Moore of Hayti, and Mrs. Mandy French of Gary, Ind.; 34 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Oran Smith, O.R. Thomason, Harold Luye, A.J. James, Marshall Swift, and Don Rettig.
