Craig was the son of Sylvanus Hamilton (1870-1943) and Louvinia Caroline Argo Hamilton (1873-1942). Tragically, he died at age 9 of diabetes, only months before insulin was discovered.

"Obituary: Craig Hamilton Dies After Lingering Illness

Craig, 9-years-old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Hamilton, died at the family home in this city Thursday afternoon after a lingering illness of a year's duration. Death was due to diabetes.
The child was given the benefit of skilled treatment and the best attention, but all in vain; he gradually grew worse until the end came.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. W. W. Scott and Rev. Hamner, of the Methodist, Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock, and interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Craig was a member of the Methodist Church, having joined about twelve months ago."
