On March 9, 1855, his family moved to North Franklin, Delaware County, New York where they operated a farm. His father passed away when he was 25 years of age. One year after his father's death, Hamiltom married Mary Amelia Quackenbush and togheter they had four children.
The family lived on Hamilton's farm also in North Franklin just a short distance from his father's farm, now run by his brother Richard.
Sadly, on February 2, 1910, Hamilton passed away and was laid to rest in the Ouleout Cemetery with him father, Mother, and many other relatives that had gone on before him.
