Warren Anderson, Sr. is a man of many accomplishments. He was a farmer, a veteran of the Civil War, a father of six children, and grandfather to many grandchildren. He was born on September 30, 1836, in Keyport, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Warren was the 5th child in a family of 11, born to Burrit Anderson and Mary Amanda Walling. His other siblings included Louisa, Delilah, Thorne, Hamilton, Garret, Richard, Julia Ann, Caroline, Adelia, and Joseph. Adelia and Joseph both passed away in the 1850's. They lived only about a year.

Warren moved around New Jersey with his family for many years, but, by March 1855 the family was living in Franklin, Delaware Co., New York. Warren worked on his father's farm alongside his brothers, while also attending church and school when possible.

On January 23, 1859, he married his first wife, Sarah A. Phillips. Sarah became pregnant in March 1859 and on December 4, 1860, they had their first child a daughter, which they named, Allie M. Anderson.

After Allie's birth, the nation was called to war and Warren heard the call of duty. In August 12, 1862 he enlisted as a Private at the age of 25 in the New York State Army and then on September 27, 1862, he enlisted with the 144th New York Volunteer Infantry Company D from Franklin, Delaware County, New York.

Apparently while still stationed in Delaware County, Sarah once again became pregnant. This proved to be completely true, for in 1863, Sarah gave birth to their second daughter Matilda. But, this joy was to be shortlived. On February 19, 1864, Warren's beloved wife Sarah passed away while Warren was still off at war. On June 25, 1865, Warren mustered out of the 144th NYVI and made his way back to Franklin.

On May 31, 1874, Warren married again, this time to Margaret B. Munson in Rockland, Sullivan County, New York. One year after their marriage n February 15, 1875, they were blessed with a son son by the name of Benjamin. Warren and Margaret once again tried to have a child and on July 11, 1877, they were blessed with a daughter by the name of Mary Lonisa. This joy was quickly end for in 1878, Warren and Margaret were stricken with the death of both Benjamin and Mary Lonisa.

But hardships did not deter this family and life continued for many years. They saw the marriage of their two children and also the marriage of Warren's two daughter's from his first wife. And they were able to experience the birth of 14 of grandchildren as well as to attend a few family reunions. But, though things were good, tragedy did befall this family.

Undaunted, the family tried once again and they again succeeded. On May 9, 1879, had another son whom they named after his father Warren. One year after the birth of Warren, Margaret is once again pregnant and on December 16, 1881 they have a girl who they name Sarah Ann after Warren's first wife.

In 1896, Warren and Matilda had to deal with the death of Warren's first daughter Allie. And then in 1911, with the death of their granddaughter Adeline.

Sadly on June 6, 1919, Warren passed away, in his bed due to heart disease, at his home in Franklin.
