Verlyn J. Smith, 63, of Muscoda, died on Saturday, Dec. 13, 1990, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.
Mr. Smith was born on Dec. 31, 1926, in Viola, the son of Halley and Mary (Ekleberry) Smith. He was married to Janice Y. Fish on July 16, 1955 in Viroqua. He and his wife own and operated Smith's TV in Muscoda. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Leslie J. Lee American Legion Post #85 of Muscoda, and a lifetime member of the VFW #2267 of Richland Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the acting president of the Muscoda-Avoca-Blue River Lions Club, and he was a member of the Muscoda Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Muscoda; a son, Carl Smith and his friend, Martha Adams of Boscobel; a daughter, Linda Field and her friend, Keith Roberts of Sparta; a brother, Grant (Alma) Smith of Viroqua; four sisters, Alice (Veron) Gochenaur, Ruby (Ray) Nevel and Avis (Paul) Bee, all of Viola, and Ruth (Ed) Kotthaus of Janesville; two grandchildren, Kyle and Laura Field; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Margie Smith of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Glen Smith.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David J. Hankins officiating. The Godager Funeral Home in Muscoda was in charge of arrangements.
