Reported age at time of death was 35 years, so evidently born about 1856. Daughter of Jacob W. & Elvira SHOUP. Evidently never married.

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Nellie SHARPE [sic] died aged 35 years; buried 06 NOV 1891 in Section 2 [sic], Lot 307 - Sexton Abraham ODOM. Galer's source was the sexton's card file (an index). Original burial record in sexton's ledger shows surname as SHARP and reports she was born in Georgia, died of "Rhematis," and buried in Section 2 [sic - Section 1], Lot 307, as a resident of Columbus, Georgia (so probably died there).

1860 federal census of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, Dwelling #856 / Household #856, shows (all SHOUP): Jacob W. (40 PA) gas worker holding no real estate but personal estate valued at $200; Elvira A. (29 GA); Dora (6 GA); and Ellen (2 GA).

1870 federal census of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, Dwelling #195 / Household #229 (all SHOUP): Jacob W. (42 PA) gas fitter holding no real estate but personal estate valued at $200; Elvira A. (39 GA) keeping house; Dora (16 GA) going to school; Nellie (11 GA) going to school; Lella (8 GA) going to school; Emma (6 GA); and Richard R. (3 GA).

1880 federal census of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, Dwelling #125 / Household #146 (all SHARPE): E. A. (female, 4_ GA DK GA) keeping house; daughter Nellie (21 GA DK GA); and daughter Lelia (19 GA DK GA).

Daniel Olds' index of deaths, AUG 1890 to DEC 1918, from the Muscogee County Death Register, on file with the Muscogee County Health Department's Office of Vital Records, shows: Nellie SHARP, White female, died 05 NOV 1891 (age not reported). [Despite appearances, this database does not establish that someone died in Muscogee County. Analysis indicates that the database includes information on persons who were buried at one of the Columbus municipal cemeteries, whether they died in Muscogee County or elsewhere, and usually excludes persons who died in Muscogee County but were buried at a site other than one of the Columbus municipal cemeteries.]

This grave is evidently not identifiably marked. Others reported to be in City 1-307 include: Jacob W. SHOUP, buried 07 OCT 1871 (age nor reported); a child of Mrs. SHOUP, buried 22 MAY 1872 (aged 6 years); Mrs. E. V. SHARP, buried 25 MAY 1886 (aged 55 years); and Leila SHARP, buried 20 NOV 1901 (aged 41 years) -- her surname is plainly SHARP in the sexton's record, but someone in a later hand wrote "Short," and the corresponding card in the sexton's card file (an index) is under the incorrect surname "Short."

No owner is recorded for City 1-307 on the lists of lot owners. This lot corresponds to Lot 143 of Section A in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 1. Autry reports no evidence of graves in this lot, and the map of Linwood Cemetery compiled by John Kennedy shows here "lot appears to be empty."
