Reported age at time of death was 55 years, so evidently born about 1831.

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Mrs. E. V. SHARP died aged 55 years; buried 25 MAY 1886 in Section 1, Lot 307 - Sexton Abraham ODOM. Galer's source was the sexton's card file (an index). Original burial entry in the sexton's ledger reports she was born in Georgia, died of "paralas" [= paralysis], and was buried as a resident of Columbus, Georgia (so probably died there).

1860 federal censsu of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, Dwelling #856 / Household #856, shows (all SHOUP): Jacob W. (40 PA) gas worker holding no real estate but personal estate valued at $200; Elvira A. (29 GA); Dora (6 GA); and Ellen (2 GA).

1870 federal census of Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, Dwelling #195 / Household #229 (all SHOUP): Jacob W. (42 PA) gas fitter holding no real estate but personal estate valued at $200; Elvira A. (39 GA) keeping house; Dora (16 GA) going to school; Nellie (11 GA) going to school; Lella (8 GA) going to school; Emma (6 GA); and Richard R. (3 GA).

This grave is evidently not identifiably marked. Others reported to be in City 1-307 include: Jacob W. SHOUPO, buried 07 OCT 1871 (age nor reported); a child of Mrs. SHOUP, buried 22 MAY 1872 (aged 6 years); Mrs. E. V. SHARP, buried 25 MAY 1886 (aged 55 years); Nellie SHARP, buried 06 NOV 1891 (aged 35 years); and Leila SHARP, buried 20 NOV 1901 (aged 41 years) -- her surname is plainly SHARP in the sexton's record, but someone in a later hand wrote "Short," and the corresponding card in the sexton's card file (an index) is under the incorrect surname "Short."

No owner is recorded for City 1-307 on the lists of lot owners. This lot corresponds to Lot 143 of Section A in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 1. Autry reports no evidence of graves in this lot, and the map of Linwood Cemetery compiled by John Kennedy shows here "lot appears to be empty."
_____
REGARDING HER DAUGHTER LEILA (FROM CONTRIBUTOR #49637894):

Early Linwood records of the name show the spelling Shoup (it's a German name, her father was born in Pennsylvania). Persons reported buried in this lot (city 1-307) are Leila's parents Jacob W. & Elvira A. Shoup, an infant son of theirs named Richard R., their adult daughter Ellen "Nellie," a child of Nellie's, and Leila. None of the graves are marked.

On the 1860 census, Jacob (age 40, born in Penn.) and Elvira (age 29, born in Geo.) were already married and living in Columbus, with daughters Dora (age 6) and Ellen (age 2). Leila Shoup appears, age 9 years and born in Georgia, in her parents' 1870 census household in Columbus. Leila Sharp appears age 19 years and born in Georgia, in an 1880 census household with her widowed mother and sister Nellie. On the 1900 census of Columbus, she's living alone, listed as "Lillie" Sharp, born May 1861 in Georgia, employed as a seamstress, father born in Pennsylvania, mother born in Georgia, and renting the house she lived in. R. L. Polk's 1900 city directory for Columbus, GA, on p. 358 says Sharpe, Leila, Miss, seamstress, resides at 10 St. James Street

The burial record made at time of her death shows the name Sharp and matches the name as it appears in the newspaper death and funeral notices. The burial record and newspaper obituary both show she resided at 1024 Seventh Avenue in Columbus. Later, someone misread the last name in the sexton's ledger and wrote "Short" next to it in a different handwriting. It was probably at that time that a card was made from that record for the sexton's card file (an index), which shows the incorrect "Short" instead of Sharp (probably where you found her name for this memorial).

Daniel Olds made an index of deaths August 1890 thru December 1918 from Muscogee County municipal records. It says Lelia Sharp, White female, died November 19, 1901 (There's no entry for anyone named Short dying in 1901)
