WILEY, Emma M. 96, formerly of Darrtown and Oxford, died August 9, 2008 at Westover Retirement Community, where she lived since 2001. She was born June 28, 1912 in Sedorus, Illinois, the daughter of Abijah and Lydia (Foust) Cartwright. Her early years were in Tennessee, near Bristol. The family moved to Ohio, and she attended Darrtown High School, graduating in 1930, in a class of 11. She married Raymond K. Wiley, one of her classmates, on March 22, 1932. She was a devoted housewife through 68 years of marriage. Raymond died in 2000. Emma enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was pleased to have many family recipes from her years in the South, and was known for wonderful, basic southern cooking. She is survived by two sons, Roger Wiley and his wife Joanie of Roswell, Georgia, and Ron Wiley and his wife Kathy of Oxford; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Private burial services were held at the Darrtown cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 Friday, August 15 at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Colonial Employee Activity Funds, 520 Eaton Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013 or Vitas Hospice Care, 11500 Northlake Dr., Suite 400, Cincinnati, OH 45249. www.smithoglefuneralhome.com.
