SPOKANE - Alfred Leonard Shumaker, head of a large North Central Washington family, died Jan. 8 at his home in Spokane. He had been a resident there for about 25 years.
He is survived by his widow Emma; six daughters, Eva Diebel, Omak; Gussie Phipps, Moses Lake; Letha Anderson, Almont, N.D., Claire Vedder, Spokane, WA; Louise Flack, Seattle; Bernice Sweet, Spokane; two sons, Merrill Shumaker, Soap Lake; Leo Shumaker, Twisp; 39 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren; and three brothers in Missouri.
Ball and Dodd Funeral Home of Spokane is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Graveside services will be held Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. in the Soap Lake Cemetery with Mr. Gilbert LaFrance officiating.
