Funeral services were conducted here Monday morning at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Mrs. Bertha Holtz, 93-year-old Town of Deer Creek resident who died Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glendon Schlais in Wausau where she had been residing the past month.

Rev. Marvin W. Zank officiated and burial took place in Evergreen Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. The body lay in state at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.

The former Bertha Suter, daughter of the late Samuel and Frieda (Mueller) Suter, was born June 1, 1893 in the Town of Browning and received her education there in the Fairfield School.

She was married August 30, 1916 to Fred Waldhart who preceded her in death December 4, 1918. Her marriage to Henry L. Holtz, who preceded her in death March 8, 1976, took place April 5, 1924, at Medford.

She and her second husband had farmed in the Town of Browning and in the Town of Deer Creek until their retirement in 1964 when they moved to the City of Medford. She had resided for a time with her son Werner Waldhart, in the Town of Deer Creek prior to spending the past month at her daughter’s home in Wausau.

Mrs. Holtz was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving her are three sons, Norman Holtz, Town of Browning, Robert Holtz, Rudolph, and Werner Waldhart, Town of Deer Creek: a daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Glendon Schlais, Wausau, 20 grandchildren 40 great grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Clara Abegglen and Mrs. Hilda Carstensen, both of Medford.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Harlyn, who died in 1963, four brothers and three sisters.
