Elsie E. Herold, 95, of Longview, passed away March 24, 2016. She was born July 20, 1920 to John and Hilda (Pera) Luokkala in Elko, MN. She graduated from high school in Esko and then moved to Washington. In 1941 she married Harold T. Herold in Longview. They divorced in 1962.

Elsie worked at the Longview Paperboard Mill and then was head cashier at the student lounge at LCC before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Gloria Dei and Trinity Lutheran Churches.

Elsie enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and Mariners games, cooking for her family, visiting family members and reading her scriptures. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was willing to help all family members and will be missed greatly.

Elsie is survived by sisters, Ruth Williams and Marge Price of Battle Ground; brother, Dale Luokkala of Vancouver, WA; sons, Quentin T. (Marilyn) Herold and Thomas (Daisy) Herold of Longview, and Timothy (Christina) Herold of Bothell, WA; daughter, Brenda Bonner of Longview; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, and 1 granddaughter.

A potluck celebration of life will be held on April 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health and Hospice. Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
