He had previously worked for the Howard Litch Garage in Galena, KS., and the Price Motor Company of Baxter Springs, KS., as a mechanic before founding the Junior Shira Garage in Baxter Springs, KS., which he operated for over 30 years, the last 20 of those years was as a partner with his son, Kim Shira. They closed the garage in 1994, and continued as partners in their present enterprise, the Show-Me-Birds Hunting Resort, of rural Baxter Springs.
Junior resided in Baxter Springs, KS. He died Saturday at 8:54 a.m. at St. John's Regional Medical Center, after an illness.
