He was found by Mr. Robert Henze on Wednesday morning when he had gone to the farm to work in the building which stood empty. In the beginning Mr. Henze did not know who the dead man was so he went to the city and reported it. Thereupon a jury was appointed consisting of Mr. Henry Wheeler, Sen., Adam Wolf, C. Ford, J.A. Zinkgraf, James Giffin and M. F. Prindiville. Later it was then discovered that the dead man was Arthur Goelzer. The Jury gave their verdict that the man had committed suicide by hanging.
Arthur Goelzer was about twenty years old and was known to be a quiet, industrious young man. It was reported that he and his father had an argument and the latter came to Plymouth with him on Monday. Arthur wanted to go to Milwaukee in order to learn a trade. He did not do this however, and stayed with relatives overnight. The next morning he started out on his way home. He no doubt did the act in a period of depression.
The $25.00 which had been given to him, he still had on his person. He is survived by his parents and brothers and sisters. The funeral was held on Friday here. Pastor Stienecker officiated.
