Joseph was born in Orillia, Ontario, Canada the son of Martin Sweet and Kathleen (Quinlan) Sweet they moved to Standish, MI when he was a young man. He first worked in the lumber industry and eventully became a farmer. He was married to Melody and had two sons, Roy and Martin Sweet. Melody died at a very young age. Joseph then married Monica Pietrusinska in Arenac County, Pine River, MI. Together they had six children, Charles, Marie, Andrew, Thomas, Leonard and Ester Elaine. Joseph and Monica moved their family to Flint, MI in the early 1920's. Joseph retired from Buick a division of General Motors. He passed away at home after a short illness. He was a beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather who was never seen without his hat, except in this picture
