The following was recorded on Tuesday, July 29, 1997 at the home of Edna (Bretches) Parker:

Edna: "I can tell you what happen to us after Everett died. Coincidence! Maybe! I don't know! It was dark. The neighbor kids never got out and messed around after it got dark. There wasn't that many of them. We were all in the kitchen. It was dark. It was almost bedtime. Someone knocked on the door like they came for a visit. Like a child had bang, bang on the door. People didn't let their children out anyways. And Dad went to the door, there wasn't anyone there. Real early the next morning, one of the Cumminghams came down. They had a phone and we didn't. He told us that Everett had died last night. I always did think that Everett came back that night. I'm that superstitious. Because Everett and Dad had a..he wanted to borrow money from Dad to go to school (agriculture school). And Dad just didn't have the money and Everett left, he left in a huff. You know? We heard about him through Twila (Everett's wife). I don't think Everett ever wrote back. I always felt like for a minute, that Everett came back once more before he died . Now, I'm that superstitious. I know it goes against everything maybe the Bible teaches or...but Dad felt so bad about it that he couldn't give him the money. I wrote to Hazel because I didn't remember Everett. So, three or four years before Hazrl died, I wrote and asked her about Everett because she was close to him. The only thing I can remember about Everett, he took me for rides on his motorcyle. Hazel said Dad went in to look at Everett when they brought him home. Dad was crying and told him he loved him and how sorry he was he couldn't give him the money. Just couldn't afford to. I always felt Everett came back for one last visit".
