Bernard Stracener

Sweetwater - Bernard Eugene Stracener, 48, of Sweetwater, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday in a Breckenridge hospital after being stricken, apparently with a heart attack, while participating in a bass fishing tournament.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the McCoy Chapel of Memories. The Rev. James Kinsey and the Rev. Orvel Brantley, both of Sweetwater, will officiate.

Born Dec. 16, 1928 in Sweetwater, Mr. Stracener had lived here all his life. He was a paint contractor. He married Wanda Lovlena McAnear on June 29, 1948 in Sweetwater.

He was a former Jaycee and a past president of the local Bass Club. He was honored for the bass of the month in Texas in February, 1977.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Latresa) Butts of Sweetwater; one son, Gary Stracener of Sweetwater; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Foust of Pasadena and Mrs. Leslie Smith of Rosenburg; two brothers, Cecil of Sweetwater and Glen of Glendale, Ariz.; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Carl Cutbirth, Jack Stein, John Woodard, Francis Woner, James Jones and Bill Allen.
