Leo "Joe" Frank Carden, 71, of Clinton, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Carden was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Lake City, the son of Ernest and Eliza Webb Carden, who are deceased.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a retired electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, No. 760, in Knoxville.

Mr. Carden was a member of Hillvale Baptist Church and he had attended Black Oak Baptist Church, both in Clinton. His family described him as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Lou Sweet Carden; his son, Timothy Carden and his wife, Wanda, of Clinton; his daughters, Tanya Miller and her husband, Leroy, of Johnson City and Tisa Liford and her husband, Glen, of Smyrna; and his grandson, Christopher Carden.

Mr. Carden is also survived by his sister, Margaret Carden of Clinton; his brothers, Everette Carden and his wife, Dorothy, and Bobby Joe Carden and his wife, Mary Nelle, all of Clinton; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Carden of Clinton; his brother-in-law, Earl Seeber of Andersonville; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, an infant son died earlier. Two other sisters and another brother, Ernest Lou Carden, Grace Seeber and Bill Carden, are also deceased.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Joe Bridges and the Rev. Larry Pugh officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Black Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


CARDEN, LEO "JOE" FRANK - age 71, of Clinton, passed away Monday, December 4, 2000 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
