Maxciene (Bristow) Wade Crumpler, 94 year old Checotah resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Checotah. She was born on Saturday, April 1, 1922 to James Matthew and Elizabeth (Holt) Bristow in Checotah, OK. Maxciene graduated from Checotah High School and began working as a nurse's assistant. After her marriage to Herman R. Wade she became a homemaker. She was widowed in 1945. Maxciene married David W. Crumpler in 1954 making their home in Checotah. She loved gardening, was a supreme crossword puzzle worker, loved church activities and was an elder in the Federated Church. Maxciene was instrumental in helping bring the Jim Lucas Library to Checotah, was a Gold Star Wife and loved her cats. Maxciene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman R. Wade in 1945; her husband David W. Crumpler in 1981; her sisters, Frances Pickens, Nettie Clayton, Pearl Herrick, Beulah Martin and Eileen Andrews and her brothers, Pat Bristow and Bill Bristow. Services celebrating the life of Maxciene will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Federated Church with Reverend Pastor Mark McCullough officiating. A private family committal will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery.
