Paul E. Callen, 78, of Allegheny Township died at 8:15 a.m. Monday (May 6, 2002) in Beverly Health Care Center, Oakmont.

He was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Emlenton.

A veteran, he served in World War II with the Navy in the 71st Seabees in the Pacific Theater.

He was a machinist at Hyde Park Machine Shop for 23 years. He was also a pastor in Edmon. He retired in 1986.

Mr. Callen was a member of First Church of God, North Apollo, where he served as vice chairman and as a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the church's men's group and a participant with other boards and committees.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marjorie C. Bennet Callen; two sons, Larry W. (Vickie) Callen of Leechburg and Timothy M. (Lynda) Callen of Winter Haven, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Linda (Howard) Ridlen of Rushville, Ind., and Mrs. Deborah (William) Bailey of Anderson, Ind.; eight grand-children; a brothers, Shaffer Callen of Phenix, Ala.; and two sisters, Tillie Nale of North Apollo and Mrs. Della (Richard) Berlin of Reynoldsville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry P. Callen; his parents, Thomas W. and Goldie A. Hepler Callen, and a sister, Dorothy Townsend.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, North Apollo, and from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Church of God, Elm Street and Moore Avenue, North Apollo. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Shallenberger.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
