E. T. Holiman, Mayor of Benton, Dies

Mayor E. Tom Holiman, 71, died at his home here at 3:15 a. m. today following a heart attack at his office yesterday.
Mr. Holiman was born in Grant County, and lived in Benton the past 38 years. For many years he was a cotton buyer. He also had engaged in the hardware business. He has been a justice of the peace the past 12 years. He was elected mayor in 1940, after having served several terms as alderman and city recorder. He was a Scottish Rite Mason, Shriner and member of the W. O. W. (Woodman of the World.)
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. George Robey and Mrs. G. F. Warren of Shreveport, La., and Mrs. Blake Williams of Little Rock; two sons, George D. of Pekin, Ill., and John Holiman of Phoenix, Ari.; four brothers, Ben and Powell of Prattsville, Warren of Sheridan, and John Holiman of Belfast; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Mooney of Little Rock, Mrs. Sallie Shepherd of Belfast, and Mrs. Lula Corley of Prattsville.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, of which he was a deacon, by the Rev. Enoch C. Brown, assisted by the Rev. Ernest Ulmer and the Rev. H. B. Vaught, pastors of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches, respectively. Aldermen will be pallbearers.
