Malinda Patrick Armstrong was the ninth child of Edward Fitz Patrick and Mary Jane (Polly) McCord Fitz Patrick. Their graves are beside Malinda's. It is believed that she came, with her family, to Illinois from Tennessee in 1827. Edward documented each of his children's birth by date and phase of the moon. A copy of the family record in Edward Fitz Patrick's old Bible, written in his own hand. states, "Malinda F. Patrick, born on 17th of Sept, 1813, in the evening in the dark of the moon." She married Garret Armstrong September 25, 1844 in Woodford Co., Illinois.
