Claudia Willhite Aldridge, 96, daughter of George M. Willhite and Effie Walling
Willhite, was born Nov. 8, 1904, at Yukon. She died July 27, 2001, at Houston
House following a lengthy illness.
She attended Houston High School and taught two terms of country school. She married Frank Aldridge Aug. 14, 1924. They had two sons.
Mrs. Aldridge was a licensed practical nurse, a member of the First Christian Church in Houston, the afternoon missionary society, Houston Garden Club, Mary S
chapter Order of Eastern Star and the Texas County Historical and Genealogy Society.
She spent most of her life in the Carthage area, where she and her husband raised their family. They moved to Raymondville, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
One granddaughter, Nita Acey, in particular was attentive to her grandmother, coming from Colorado Springs to visit and writing on a regular basis over many years.
Mrs. Aldridge was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Harold Lee.
Surviving are one son, Darold D. Aldridge of Chincoteague, Va.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 o'clock today (Thursday) at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Groff officiating. Burial will be in the Big Creek Cemetery near Yukon.
