Mrs. Amelia Bear, 95 years old, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs. Allie Crippen of Joy. Funeral services were held from the Latter Day Saint's church in Millersburg Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Bear was born in Hanover, Germany, Sept. 16, 1839 and came to New Boston with her parents when she was a small girl. In 1860 she became the wife of Peter Bear of Eliza, who passed away 16 years ago. They had a son and two daughters: Charles of Aledo, Mrs. Crippen of Joy and Miss Martha Bear of California. She is also survived by one brother, Christian Muhlenburg, of Aledo.
The deceased, a pioneer resident of Mercer county, was a remarkable woman, enjoying very good health until a short time ago. She was one of the oldest residents of this section and was blessed with many friends.
