Mr. Velde was grain dealer and elevator operator at Pekin prior to 1929 when he moved to Bradford where he remained until he retired in 1948.
He was born Jan. 2, 1886, in Pekin, a son of Charles L. and May Pratt Velde. He married Florence Schmitt Oct. 14, 1914, in Peoria, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert J. (Louise) Clendenin of Monmouth and Mrs. Virgil W. (Carol) Meythaler of Owensboro, Ky.; two sons, Harvey Brace Velde of Longview, Tex., and W. Lynn Velde of Peoria; and three sisters, Mrs. James Ross of Peoria, Mrs. Ralph Surman of Carlinville, and Mrs. J. Dean Fitzgerald of Western Springs. Two brothers preceded him in death.
