Bela, born in Middletown (now Middlefield), CT, about 1778, was a farmer by occupation and always lived in his native place, where he attained the rank of captain of militia and died Oct. 4, 1841.
He married first, about 1801, Hannah Ward, born in 1780, died Aug. 9, 1827, daughter of William and Mary (Miller) Ward. He married second, Jan. 11, 1829, Ruth (Ward) Birdseq, born Feb. 10, 1777, sister of his first wife and widow of Seth Birdsey. He had six children with Mary, but none with Ruth:

2. William W. Coe (1803 - 1852)
3. Lucina Coe (1807 - 1900)
4. Watson V. Coe (1814 - )
5. Andrew Coe (1816 - 1893)
