Reuben Bray died at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was 78 years old.

He was a retired courthouse employee. He was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.

He was survived by his wife, Etta (Ragle) Troxell Bray (married June 26, 1983 in Somerset, Kentucky); his daughters, Vickie Gleason of Somerset, Kentucky, Dorothy Shephard and Sue Scott, both of Lexington, Kentucky, Barbara Elam of Winchester, Kentucky, Juanita Holt of Berea, Kentucky, and Wilma Jean Ewald of Kettering, Ohio; his stepdaughters, Katherine Loveless of Liberty, Kentucky, Susan Vanover of Revelo, Kentucky, and Mary Jean Profitt of Lexington, Kentucky; his stepsons, Larry Troxell and Bob Troxell, both of Somerset, Kentucky; his brother, James Bray of White Lily, Pulaski County, Kentucky; his sisters, Marie Powell of Lenoir City, Tennessee and Leona Lamb of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 7 foster children; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher Columbus Bray and Lillie (Mounce) Bray; his first wife, Dora (Fulcher) Bray; his daughters, Lena May Bray, Phyllis Bray, and Rosalee Bray; his brothers, Harold Bray and Robert Bray; and his sisters, Della Barringer and Alberta Bray.

Funeral services were held at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Reverend J.S. New, Reverend Edmond VanHook, and Reverend Jerry Frye officiating.
