John Worsham

Born: April 17, 1939
Died: February 21, 2016


Mr. John S. Worsham, age 76 of Winnfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 21, 2016 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Winn Parish and an active member of East Winnfield Baptist Church in Joyce, where he was a faithful member of his men’s Sunday school class.

John will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and hard working man who loved his family and community. He loved watching his favorite football team the New Orleans Saints as well as NASCAR races. He enjoyed spending time with his little four legged children, “Fat Fat” and “Ms Pepper”. He was a retired Mill Wright at West Frazier in Joyce.

Mr. Worsham was preceded in death by his Parents Finos F. Worsham and Velva L. (Daigre) Worsham, his wife Delores M. Worsham , and brothers Charles R. Worsham, Frank D.R. Worsham, and Finos F. Worsham Jr.


Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Johnny Ray Worsham of Winnfield, and Scott A. Patrick of Dallas Texas, daughters Songia D. Gaspard(Lamar) of Calhoun, Connie L. Love (Roger) of Cohokia, IL, and Sherrie L. Castleberry of Joyce, and Terrie A. Provence of Winnfield. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother Robert F. Worsham (Vivian) of St. Francisville, two sisters Gay R. (Worsham) Baker of Winnfield, and Gloria F. (Worsham) Dunn of Eldorado, Ar., numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb 25, 2016 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Bruce Cardin and Russell Rhodes officiating.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Memorial donations may be made to the East Winnfield Baptist Church in Joyce.
