Ft. Blackmore, VA - Patrick Hagen Lawson, Jr., 76, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Lawson was born in Scott County, VA on May 20, 1938 to the late Patrick Hagen Lawson, Sr. and the late Annie Blevins Lawson.

He was Veteran of the United States Army and a retired heavy equipment mechanic who was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing and camping on the Clinch River.

In addition to his parents, his infant daughter Amanda Lawson, sister, Berniece Dooley; great grandson, Caleb Hughes; half sisters, Ruth DeFreece and Mildred Hipps; and half brother, Rhea Lawson preceded him in death.

Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Helen Quillen Lawson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughters,

Gayle Davidson and husband, David, Nickelsville, VA, Trish Blevins and husband, Terry, Rye Cove, VA, Regina Stallard, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Karen Heaton and husband, Wendell, Jonesborough, TN, and Christy Justice and husband, Phillip, Gate City, VA; sons, Hagan Lawson and wife, Almeda, Gate City, VA, Michael Lawson, Abingdon, VA, David Lawson, York, SC, Anthony Lawson and wife, Melissa, Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Stevie Lawson and wife, Debbie, Ft. Blackmore, VA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren;

sisters, Opal Horne, Wanda Berry and husband, Allen, Nina Mathes, Margie Smith and husband, Carl, and Connie Page; brothers, Fred Lawson and wife, Margaret, Odell Lawson and wife, Helen, Paul Lawson and wife, Jean, Ronnie Lawson and wife, Peggy, and Roger Lawson and wife, Sandy; half brother, Hubert Lawson and wife, Gladys; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Gene Stallard officiating.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the Lawson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Tyler Lawson, Dustin Blevins, Christopher Hughes, Brandon Stallard, Steven Lawson, and Justin Lawson will serve as pallbearers. Seth Blevins, Jordan Stallard, Corey Hughes, Austin Lawson, Tucker Hillman, Riley Hillman, and Bailey Lawson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his sister, Connie Page for her unfailing support and to the staff of Wellmont Hospice for their care of Mr. Lawson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral expense.
