He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Hubert never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.
He was a truck driver by profession and worked for Roy B. Moore and Mason Dixon Trucking from which he retired.
Hubert was a WW II veteran having served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. He was known as “General Lee” to his many CB radio friends. He was a charter member of the Doran Addition Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Gladys Lawson; son, Terry Lawson; father, Pat Lawson; mother, Bettie Minnick; brother, Rhea Lawson; sisters, Ruth DeFreece and Mildred Hipps.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tonya Bernard (Ted), Tammy Arnold (Gerald); daughter-in-law, Amy Lawson; six grandchildren, Chad Lawson (Whitney), Tara Rafalowski (Trey), Travis Bernard (Bobbie), Traci Isaacs (Dustin), Kevin Arnold and Leah Mitchell (Clark); five great grandchildren, Delaney and Shelby Lawson, Trinity Bernard, Ashlyn Arnold and Neela Parker.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jack Day officiating. Music will be provided by Travis and Bobbie Bernard.
Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by The American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 at 1 pm Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
