Franklin Delano Caplinger, 82, of Springfield, VA, formerly of Mathias, WV, died February 5, 2016 at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Annandale, VA.

He was born May 6, 1933 in Hardy Co. WV and was the son of the late Grover and Ada Mathias Caplinger.

He was a retired mechanic for Fairfax Trucking. He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church.

On October 11, 1958 he married the former Joyce Halterman, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Eric Caplinger of Reston, VA; a daughter, Lisa Keyes and husband Steven of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Adam Caplinger, Katie Caplinger, Tyler Keyes, Lindsey Keyes; sister, Midge Long of Broadway; and brother, Edgar Caplinger of Dayton.

The Revs. Kelly Simmons and Jeffry Roberts will conduct a funeral service 10:00 A.M. Thursday February 18th at the Garretts Chapel United Methodist Church in Mathias, WV. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mathias.

Family will receive friends Wednesday February 17th from 6-8 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
