Lieutenant Colonel Neil Norman Snyder attended schools in Jonesboro, Ark., Sloan Hendrix Academy at Imboden and Hendrix College, Conway, Ark. He began a military career in 1912 as an enlisted man in the 1st Ark. Infantry, Co G, then he was promoted in rank several times from 1912-1925 when he reached Lieutenant Colonel, 153rd Infantry, Arkansas National Guard, an office he held until resignation in 1940. He served as the first president of the Arkansas National Guard Association of Arkansas, 1927-1928
