Sarah Adell Weddle, daughter of Salu and Hannah Stowell, was born June 2, 1886, at Devils Lake, N. D., and passed from this life at the hospital in Iowa City on Wednesday afternoon, July 17, age 43 years, 1 month, and 15 days.

She was the ninth child of a family of 13 children, six boys and seven girls, and the first to pass from this life. Her mother died about three years ago and her father a trifle over a year ago.

Soon after her birth, the family moved to the Turtle Mountains, North Dakota, where she resided until the time of her marriage.

On July 30, 1900, she united with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, being baptized by Elder William Sperling, and continued a loyal and faithful member until the hour of her departure.

On November 20, 1904, she was married to Elmer E. Weddle and they started their home on a homestead near Bantry, N. D. To this union were born 10 children namely, Franklyn S., Minnie Mildred, Margaret A., Elmer D., Esther Louise, Roy G., Frederick O., Genevieve, Lorraine, and Betty, all of whom are living with the exception of Elmer who passed from this life April 21, 1927.

The family lived on the homestead until the spring of 1912 when they moved to Fargo, N. D., where Brother Weddle accepted a position with the State Agricultural college of that place.

In June 1926, the family moved to Lamoni, their present home. Immedately following her arrival in Lamoni, Sister Weddle became a member of the choir and was very faithful in her attendance both for practices and church services.

From the time of her baptism in 1900, she was active in church work, giving her service whenever and wherever needed —in fact her life was lost in service to others. She was blessed with a cheerful and hopeful disposition and was loved by all who knew her.

With the passing of Sister Weddle, the church loses a loyal member, the community a good friend and neighbor, and the home a true and faithful companion and a devoted mother.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 at the church, with Elder James A. Thomas in charge, Elder W. E. Prall preaching the sermon. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives in addition to the immediate family attending this service were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stoll, Mrs. Charles Spalding, Mr. and Mrs. Will Stoll, and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Wagner, Independence, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stoll, Morehead, Minn.; and Mrs. Ed Stoll, Valley City, N. D. One group of relatives motored from North Dakota to be in attendance at the funeral and arrived just as the opening hymn of the service was being announced.
