Martha Hubbell was the daughter of Richard Hubbell and Elizabeth Meigs, born while her parents still lived in Guilford, Connecticut. She married Capt. John Wakeman April 24, 1687. He was the son of the Rev. Samuel Wakeman and Hannah Goodyear. Capt. John Wakeman passed away February 15, 1709.

John Wakeman and Martha Hubbell lived in Fairfield, Connecticut, and their children were:

2. Ann, b. March 24, 1692

3. Samuel, b. Feb. 24, 1693; d. Oct. 19, 1771 Findagrave #32119330

g. Martha, bap. Aug. 15, 1736; d. March 9, 1766. She married Nathan Hill, son of John Hill and Esther Bulkley, Aug. 26, 1765. He married Dec. 1766, Elizabeth Whitehead, daughter of Gershom Whitehead

"WAKEMAN, John, Captain, late of Fairfield, Nov. 9, 1709, letters of administration on his estate granted to his widow Martha Wakeman, page 152.

Inventory taken Dec. 6, 1709, by Nathaniel Burr and Samuel Squire, had right in grant of land above New Milford, and filed Dec. 8, 1709, page 152. May 19, 1710, statement recorded stated that John Wakeman and Martha Hubbell were married Apl. 24, 1687, and had the following children; viz: Elenor, born Aug. 24, 1689; Samuel, born Feb. 24, 1693; Ann, born Mch. 24, 1697; Martha, born Sept. 24, 1700; Stephen, born Oct 15, 1702; and John, born Aug. 29, 1705, page 153.

Mch. 7, 1710/11, widow and eldest daughter now deceased, and account filed by Ensign Richard Hubbell, administrator, and estate ordered distributed by Ensign Richard Hubbell, John Thompson and William Hill to his surviving children, viz; Samuel, Stephen, John, Elizabeth, Ann, and Martha, page 194.

Sept. 12, 1710, Elizabeth, a daughter of decedent, made choice of her uncle Sergeant Samuel French to be her guardian; Samuel a son of decedent, made choice of Major Peter Burr to be his guardian; and the court appointed Captain Joseph Wakeman to be guardian of Stephen, a son of decedent; and the court appointed Major Peter Burr to be guardian of John, a son of decedent, page 193.

Jan. 3, 1710/11, Ann Wakeman, a daughter of decedent, made choice of her uncle Samuel Hubbell to be her guardian; and the court appointed said Samuel Hubbell guardian of Martha, another daughter of decedent, page 380.

Oct. 7, 1713, Lieut. Samuel Hubbell, guardian of Ann Wakeman and Martha Wakeman, daughters of decedent, being now deceased, their uncle Ensign Richard Hubbell was appointed in his place, page 378."

Note: Ann and Martha Wakeman had two uncles named Samuel Hubbell, one the son of Richard Hubbell Sr. and Elizabeth Meigs, and one the son of Richard Hubbell Sr. and Elizabeth Gaylord. Both Samuel Hubbells died in 1713. We know that Lieutenant Samuel was the son of Richard Hubbell Sr. and Elizabeth Meigs from "History and Genealogy of the Hubbell Family", Harold Beresford Hubbell et al, 1980, pp. 58-59.

Note: Ann and Martha Wakeman had two uncles named Samuel Hubbell, one the son of Richard Hubbell Sr. and Elizabeth Meigs, and one the son of Richard Hubbell Sr. and Elizabeth Gaylord. Both Samuel Hubbells died in 1713. We know that Lieutenant Samuel was the son of Richard Hubbell Sr. and Elizabeth Meigs from "History and Genealogy of the Hubbell Family", Harold Beresford Hubbell et al, 1980, pp. 58-59.
