* Jon Torsteinsen Akre (1874 - 1928)
* Torstein Torsteinsen Akre (1875 - 1956)
* Odd Torsteinsen Akre (1878 - 1939)
Torstein and Bol sent their three youngest sons, Torstein, Odd and Johannes, to emigrate to the United States in 1893, 1895 and 1899 respectively. The reason for doing so was to keep them from being drafted into the Swedish army (Sweden and Norway were a single country until 1905). The eldest son, Jon, remained with his parents to help work the family farm.
Johannes arrived in the United States in 1899, made his way to Iowa and eventually settled in Garretson, South Dakota. He anglicized his name to John T. Akre.
In 1904, John married Julia B. Stormo (1883 - 1954), the daughter of a Lutheran minister and his wife. John and Julia had five children:
* Reuben Akre (1905 - 1988)
* Philip Akre (1907 - 1974)
* Lucile Akre Locke (1909 - 1976)
* Dorothy Akre Hermanson (1912 - 1981)
* Eugene C. Akre (1914 - 1996)
In the early 1940s, John and Julia lived in Washington, DC, where John worked at a retail shoe store. Returning to Garretson, John died there in 1949. He was survived by Julia and all of his five children.
