Lemoine "Lee" Auxier, age 74, of Boone, Iowa, died at his home on May 10, 2008.
Lee was born in Corydon, Iowa, on February 26, 1934, the son of Lawrence and Glyda (Halfhill) Auxier. He graduated from Chariton High School in Chariton in 1952, where he was an All State football player.
Lee then served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
On August 30, 1953, Lee married Patricia Henry in Norwood. The couple lived in the Des Moines, Woodward, and Boone areas.
Lee was employed as a mechanic for Anderson Erickson Dairy in Des Moines for 30 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of the American Legion #37 of Ames, the V.F.W. #517 of Boone and the Forty and Eight veterans' organization.
Lee enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, mushroom hunting, family gatherings, watching football games, and attending his grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pamela Auxier, a sister, Deloice Wellons, and a great grandson, Christopher Auxier.
Lee is survived by Patricia Auxier of Boone; two sons, Rodney (Rhonda) Auxier of Woodward and Allen Auxier of Boone; four daughters, Jayne (Mike) Papini of Chana, Illinois, Brenda (Scott) Auxier-Mailey of Windsor Heights, Glena (Mike) Tjernagel of Boone, and LeAnn Auxier of Des Moines; two brothers, Larry (Suzanne) Auxier and Garry (Donna) Auxier, all of Des Moines; a sister, Frances (Terry) McCombs of Pleasant Hill; eight grandchildren: Shane Auxier, Leesa and Lindsey Tjernagel, all of Boone, Melissa Baldwin of Chana, Illinois, Christen Williams of Rochelle, Illinois, Aaron Mailey and Ashley Auxier-Mailey, both of Windsor Heights, and Joshua Auxier of Des Moines; seven great grandchildren: Kylee, Brendyn, and Anna Jayn Williams, Karyn and Chance Baldwin, and Dominic and Allyson Auxier; and four step great-grandchildren: Mia and Cadence Lilla and Jarrett and Nic Long.
