Suffering with acute indigestion, Mr. SCOTT SHERMAN WELTY, 200 West South street, was taken ill very suddenly last night and gradually grew worse until the end came, 1 o'clock this morning. Mr. Welty had not been in good health, although he had been able to be about, and yesterday he was walking about the city. He was aged 51 years, 5 months and 13 days.

Mr. Welty was a well known resident of this city, having lived here all his life. He was the son of Mrs. Ann R. Welty, this city, and leaves a widow and twin sons, aged 12 years; three sisters, Mrs. James R. Warfield, Mrs. Frank Sheffield, this city; and Mrs. William Wilson, Baltimore.

He was a member of Chippewa Tribe of Red Men. Before the last election he was a candidate for the nomination for Sheriff on the Republican ticket. Of late years he was engaged in looking after properties which he owned and rented.

The funeral will take place on Thursday at 2 o'clock, with services at the house and interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
