Samuel was also the grandson of John Henry and Elizabeth Freeze Valentine, natives of Maryland, who settled in Pickaway County, Ohio. Samuel passed away at the age of 7 days on July 25, 1842, in Allen County, and was buried in Watterson Cemetery, Dunn Mill, Allen County, Indiana.
