TREMONT - Betty Marie Steinbeck, 75, of Tremont died at 2:40 p.m. Monday (Feb. 22, 1999) at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Her funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Davis Mortuary, Tremont, the Rev. Scott Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Tremont. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Memorials may be made to Tremont Rescue Squad.

She was born Aug. 26, 1923, at Pekin, the daughter of Benjamin and Opal McIntyre Wheat. She married Alex F. Steinbeck on Dec. 28, 1946, at Farmer City. He died Sept. 10, 1979, at Tremont.

Survivors include one son, Edward (Julie) Steinbeck, Congerville; two daughters, Connie (John) Stauffer, Pekin; and Janet (Gregory) Harper, Bartlesville, Okla.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Wheat, San Jose; and three sisters, Esther Wheat, San Jose; Judy Mitchell, Melbourne, Fla.; and Marcie Brems, Crestwood, Mo.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Steinbeck was employed at Beich's Candy Co. in Bloomington for 15 years until she retired in 1981. She also was a homemaker.
