Cruz Guerrero, surrounded by family, lost his short but courageous battle with acute my elogenous leukemia on Monday March 10, 2008.

Cruz was born on September 13, 1919 in OKC to Jose and Patricia Guerrero.

He valiantly served his country in Japan during WWII as an Army Rifleman. Cruz married the love of his life, Nellie, in 1953. He became the loving stepfather to her 4 children and eventually Grandpa to 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was a longtime member of the American GI Forum where he held numerous offices, both locally and on the state level.

He always had an opinion and was always right! He was met in Heaven by his parents, brothers Manuel and Vincent, sister Suzi Ayala, and stepson JC Carabajal.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nellie, 3 stepdaughters, P. Lemons of Topeka, KS, D. Stewart of Yukon, OK and K. Lither­land (George) of Cedar City, Utah, brothers, J. (Grace) of Lawton, OK, H. (Mary) of Denver, CO and sister, M. Guerrero of Denver, CO. He is also survived by a special niece/godchild, Virginia R. of Coolidge, AZ and daughter-in-law, Patricia C. of OKC, OK along with his grand children and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Rosary prayer service will be held on Thursday, March 13th at 6:30 p.m. in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with a Mass of Catholic Burial on Friday, March 14th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
