ISSAC RILEY TRENT came to West Texas from Williamson County, Texas in 1878.

He stopped in Sweetwater and bought a section of land in South Fisher county on Sweetwater Creek. He paid $1.00 per acre for it and in later years he and his wife were baptized in Sweetwater Creek.

Riley was a cowboy in spirit and heart and the ranch was a great success.

When the Texas and Pacific Railway came West from Ft. Worth in the late 1870's railway officials decided to name the way station near his land Trent.

It is a well known story how an unattentive employee left by accident a company manufactured sign saying Eskota at the designated location of Trent and of course the Trent sign several miles to the East at the present town of Trent.

Riley married MARY ELLEN MAY of Gonzales, Texas on December 22,1888 in Sweetwater.

They had two sons, IRVIN(BUD)and OTTO and one daughter INEZ TRENT ALLYN.
