BRYANT GOSSETT TAKEN BY DEATH
WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT OF MT. OLIVE COMMUNITY IS CLAIMED SUDDENLY
S. Bryant Gossett, 58, well known farmer and business man of the Mt. Olive church community near Cowpens, died suddenly at his home at 6:30 o'clock Sunday morning. A life-long resident of the Mt. Olive section, Mr. Gossett was the son of the late R. C. Gossett. He was an active member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and of the Cowpens Masonic lodge. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Ila Spencer Gossett; two children by a previous marriage, Mrs. Frances Cash and Charlie Gossett, both of Cowpens, route 1; five brothers, J. W. Gossett, A. L. Gossett and F. O. Gossett, all of Cowpens, route 1, C. S. Gossett of Woodruff and G. C. Gossett of Clifton; two sisters, Mrs. Cora McCraw and Mrs. Lettie Cash, both of Cowpens, route 1; and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Mt. Olive Baptist church by the Rev. W. J. Sprinkles. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the following nephews: Holman Gossett, J. W. Gossett, Jr., Bryson Swofford, Jesse Genobles, Marvin McCraw, Paul Sellars, Mitchell McCraw, and John Henry Swofford. The honorary escore will be composed of R. A. Daniel, J. M. Cash, Ab Powell, Charlie Powell, Dr. A. T. Martin, Jasper Fisher, Fred Clary, Z. T. Spenser, Foster Horne, Ed Poole, R. R. Davis, J. M. Edwards, J. K. Blanton, J. B. Oglesby, D. L. Blackwood, Sheriff Sam M. Henry, Haden Cash and Claude Wood. Members of the group are requested to meet at the church at 2:20 o'clock today. Flower bearers will be Bertha Smalley, Rosalee Smalley, Evera Swofford, Dondelene Powell, Flossie Genobles, Fay Gossett, Catherine Gossett and Elloree Horne.
He died at his home of a heart attack when he went to feed the mules.He was a life long resident of the Mt. Olive section. He was a active member of the Mt. Olive Church and the Cowpens Masonic Lodge.He is buried at Mt.Olive Baptist Church in Cowpens S.C.
