Carl Alvin Jensen was born February 9, 1913, on a farm, in Cottonwood County, MN, the son of John M. and Inga (Haugness) Jensen. The John Jensen family moved to a farm east of Borup, MN, in Norman County, in 1913. In 1917, the family moved to a arm near Twin Valley, MN, and in 1925, they moved to a farm in Hagen Township, Clay county, MN. Carl attended country school near Twin Valley. He went to Fargo, ND to look for work in the early 1930's, when thimes were touch because of the depression. He worked at the Fargo Coffee Shop from 1933 to 1936. He met his future wife, Helen Johnson through friends in 1933, when he was 20 years old and Helen was 16. Carl Alvin Jensen married Helen Johnson on June 24, 1935, in Moorhead, MN.
Carl had various jobs from 1936 to 1937, and in 1937 he began working for a liquor distributing firm. He worked there until 1942, when he bough his own tavern in Minto, ND. Carl sold it back to the original owner in 1943 when the owner returned from World War II. He then bought a farm near Oslo, MN. Carl and Helen lived on that farm until 1947, when they sold it and bought a farm near Ada, MN. In 1972, they sold the farm near Ada, and Carl began working on a trucking route from Halstad to Duluth, MN. He also began helping his son-in-law, Bruce Viker, with farming near Hillsboro, ND, which he did until 2001. Carl and Helen loved dancing and traveling. They also enjoyed driving to the East and West Coasts and visited Norway in 1986. In 1995, they cruised the eastern Caribbean. In 2002, they moved to Valley View Manor in Ada. They lived in south Texas during the winters from 1972 to 2001. Carl became a resident of the Halstad Living Center in September of 2004.
Carl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen of Ada, a son, C. Van (Cindy) Jensen, Hendrum, MN, four daughters, Marlene (M. A. Bo) Warner, Blooomington, MN, Joanne (Bruce) Viker, Hillsboro, ND, Patsy (Jerry) Habeck, Belle Fourche, SD, and Pamela (Orville) Dukleth, Hendrum, MN. Also surviving are five brothers: Johnny Jensen, Ulen, MN, Clarence (Lorraine) Jensen, Fargo, ND, Joe Jenson, Babbitt, MN, Marvin (Doris) Jensen, Fort Collins, CO, and Tony Jensen, Ankeny, IA, three sisters: Selma Bjerke, Omaha, NE, Anna Sontag, Ada, MN, and Lillian (Knut) Wefald, St. Louis Park, MN, and 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Hew was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Arthur, Henry, Orlean, and Ordean, one sister, Hilda Haugness, and one granddaughter Kristine Helen Viker Spurzm.
They were the parents of 5 children: Marlene, Joanne, Patsy, Carl Van and Pamela.
