Lorene Allen, 76, of Paris died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital.
Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Felts officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born May 26, 1924, to Willie Cole and Mary Elba Luckett Foster.
She was reared and attended school in Petty and spent most of her adult life in the Houston area. She worked as a butcher for Winegarten's for many years before taking a business course and becoming secretary for Champion Paper Mills where she retired. She, her husband and son moved to Paris where they owned and operated several service stations. Lorene was a mother to all of the boys who came to her home over the years. She was an avid horseman and loved trail rides. Some of her fondest memories were of trail rides in Houston.
She married Murill Arthur Allen July 4, 1942, in Hugo, Okla. He died July 16, 1988.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Dean Ballard.
Surviving are two children, Wess Allen of Dallas and Jim Allen of Houston; a granddaughter, Darla Tatosian; several nieces and nephews and by her companion, her pet dog.
