Enlisted in Indiana National Guard, Battery D, 1st Field Artillery (Battery D, 150th Field Artillery), Fort Wayne, July 14, 1916, for service on Mexican Border. Re-enlisted and went overseas in January, 1918; attached to Forty-second (Rainbow) Division. Killed in action October 9, 1918, Montfaucon*, France. Buried at Mountfaucon*."
