James Eby born July 14, 1898, near Fort Wayne, Ind. Employee of Fort Wayne City Gas plant. Enlisted in Indiana National Guard, Battery D, 1st Field Artillery (Battery D, 150th Field Artillery), Fort Wayne, July 14, 1916, for service on Mexican Border. Re-enlisted and went overseas in January, 1918; attached to Forty-second (Rainbow) Division. Killed in action October 9, 1918, Montfaucon*, France. Buried at Mountfaucon*."
